Build Skills for a Healthier Future: Minor in Preventative Care and Physical Activity

The Preventative Care and Physical Activity minor allows students to gain specialized expertise in health and wellness that complements their main area of study. This 18-credit program encourages collaboration among students, equipping them with essential skills for improving community health. Students in the minor track are not required to complete the Intermediate or Advanced Standing requirements that are typically required of SMHP majors.

Students can also pursue an optional Credentialing Track by completing additional approved courses, preparing them for certifications like the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and the Physical Activity in Public Health Specialist (PAPHS). While these courses enhance exam eligibility, consulting with an advisor is recommended for optimal preparation.
